Tshepong ECD Centre
The Tshepong ECD (Early Childhood Development) Centre was established in 2011, when a local creche in Raphuti struggled to meet the needs of the young children in our rural community. Tshepong Children's Project provided support and assistance to this creche and it is currently the official site office of the organisation, while providing educational and developmental interventions as the only ECD Centre of its kind within our area of service delivery (rural and otherwise).

At the Tshepong ECD Centre our trained and dedicated team implement a daily educational program focused on the holistic and individual milestone development of every child, while including parents and caregivers in the process. The program includes relevant physical, emotional, social, and educational themes and activities for Gr.RRR (age 3-4) and Gr.RR (age 4- 5), while centring around play and fun. Children also receive daily nutritional and balanced snacks and meals to ensure that they are nourished to learn and grow up healthy. The ECD Centre also boasts their own vegetable garden! We are also privileged enough to take these children on a yearly educational excursion that exposes them to a world outside of their own.

Due to our close contact with these children, we are also able to support their families through various Social Service Interventions aimed at alleviating child care problems. This ensures the safety of the children within the community. Basic needs are also able to be met as we build positive and trusting relationships with our families.

Sprouts Program
The Sprouts Program started in 2020 with the intention of establishing a culture of ECD (Early Childhood Development) at home. The focus of this program is to ensure the healthy milestone development of young children through the equipment and empowerment of their parents and caregivers.

Parents and caregivers come together on a weekly basis where they are shown how to do a variety of age appropriate developmental activities with their child, while being taught on the importance and purpose of every activity. They are then encouraged to repeat these activities at home during the week with a worksheet showing images of every activity together with a tickbox to mark as they do them. Parents are encouraged to share their experiences and learn from one another as they also partake in a parent-support group called 'Womandla'.

All beneficiaries receive a well-balanced and nutritional meal as we hope to enhance healthy physical development. An exercise group was also formed by the Sprouts beneficiaries where they come together weekly to follow an easy workout program. This also establishes a healthy and positive community.
