Problem Statement

In our rural community we see the following in our children & youth:

  • The lack of motivation, drive & encouragement to pursue a brighter future.
  • They are idle in their attitudes and actions.
  • They have many educational & developmental needs.
  • The lack of daily nutritional support.
Cause
  • The Illiteracy of primary caregivers in rural communities.
  • The socio-economic environment children and their families are exposed to in rural communities (lack of opportunities for income).
  • The lack of mentorship, positive influences & role models.
  • The lack of exposure to informative & educational support structures within an uplifting and fun environment that they share with their peers.
  • Target Group:
    • Children & Youth from 6 - 21 years permitted they are still in school.
Impact & Achievement
  • Youth become community leaders, role models and mentors within their own community.
  • Children finish school and matriculate.
  • Young adults take hold of opportunities that can open doors to a brighter future.
Activities

How to check monitoring
  • Monthly Management Meetings - submission of:
    • Storybook (impactful)
    • Statistics Log
  • Quarterly monitoring of files
  • Weekly Site Visits
  • Quarterly Employee Appraisal
  • 1-on-1 Feedback meetings with DIC manager
  • Site visit, interaction and observations while the program takes place.
Outputs
Look at direct results found
  • Number of children enrolled that receive DIC interventions and daily nutritional meals
  • Regularity of Attendance -
    • Daily number of children
    • Parents at meetings & interventions
  • Number of home visits done
  • Referrals done to social worker & referrals received to enrol new children in need of the service
  • Information from observation sheets filled out by every carer
  • Number of meetings held for planning & feedback
